报告摘要:Understanding the interplay between decoherence and quantum chaos is a longstanding problem. In this talk, we pose the question as to what is the ultimate limit to the rate of decoherence for complex quantum systems. We first introduce a decoherence rate that applies to arbitrary Markovian processes and used it to demonstrate that fluctuating chaotic systems described by random matrix theory exhibit extreme decoherence. The latter is characterized by a rate that grows exponentially with the particle number, thus surpassing the dynamics of nonchaotic k-body Hamiltonians. These findings suggest the use of quantum chaotic systems as a natural test bed for spontaneous wave function collapse models. We further discuss the implications on the decoherence of AdS/CFT black holes resulting from the unitarity loss associated with energy dephasing.
